Joyeux Noël powered by Synergy

by Maeli Cherel (WAAPA third year design student)

Joyeux Noël is an elegant, immersive, joyous and enthralling installation for the whole family. Powered by Synergy and designed by WAAPA third year student Maeli Cherel, this walk through tunnel, full of texture, colour and light, will delight you with its twinkling walls, glistening ceiling and magical atmosphere. Make sure you hold hands with a loved one on your way through.

Joyeux Noël will get you excited and inspired to be involved in Synergy’s Xmas Lights Trail which kicks off in less than 80 days. For more information on how to be involved with the Synergy Xmas Lights Trail, head to

Maeli is in her final year of set and costume design at WAAPA and will be graduating with a Bachelor in Performing Arts in November. Since starting the course she has designed for a number of WAAPA productions and school shows in Theatre, Dance and Musical Theatre. Before studying design, she was an Engineer and studied Acoustic and Marine Engineering in the UK. Maeli has tried to keep painting and drawing but always found there was no time so growing restless and slightly bored with work she decided it was time to get seriously creative. Since then her mind has been exposed to all kinds of lovely stories, images and people. So far it's been fun, challenging, and wonderful and she's excited to create more fantastic worlds for people to get immersed in.
